2007 Planning day
In mid 2007 a planning day was held attended
by 42 people including Board representatives, senior clinical, executive and
management staff. The day resulted in informatics priorities and recommendations
for ACACI being reached and in turn a Clinical Systems Strategy has been
created.

Reporting Structure
Clinical projects facilitated by ACACI generally
report to their project's Steering Committee. ACACI formally reports to the IT
Steering Committee whose membership includes the CEO and hospital executive.

Advises
Austin Health clinical units needing information technology to improve
clinical outcomes and efficiency.

Coordinates
clinical informatics projects involving more than one clinical unit.

Identifies
potential areas for improvement through use of information technologies and
advocates change in clinical process and practice.

Advises
the Austin Health Executive and Board on development and implementation of
clinical informatics strategies, seeking the goal of an integrated
Electronic Medical Record.

Participates
in Austin Health clinical governance on issues involving information
technologies.

Develops
software specification documents for development and enhancement of clinical
applications.

Fosters
understanding and participation among Austin Health and other staff in the
development of clinical informatics disciplines and facilities.

Contributes
clinical and technical expertise to government committees, particularly
related to the Victorian HealthSMART whole-of-state clinical systems
project.

Collaborates
with various universities in research and the training of clinical
informatics students.

Conducts
clinical informatics studies funded by commercial organisations in the
healthcare field and other health industry bodies.

Seeks
collaboration with commercial software developers and other hospitals to
develop clinical informatics solutions applicable generally to Victorian
public health organisations.
