About ACACI Austin Centre for Applied Clinical Informatics (ACACI) is a department within Austin Health. ACACI was formed in July 2005 to support the development of clinical informatics throughout Austin Health. ACACI is a specialised team providing health informatics support to a staff of around 6000. Since its inception, ACACI has facilitated a number of clinical informatics projects, hosted undergraduate and post graduate students.
Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research in the northeast of Melbourne. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. Austin Health comprises Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
During 2006-07, its 6,400 staff treated a record 85,887 inpatients and 149,971 outpatients.

clinicians with high quality informatics applications, ACACI will promote an
innovative, safe and secure environment supporting superior patient care.
What are we working on now? In 2009, ACACI staff joined the Austin Health Clinical System Project Group and participated in the IPS (Implementation Planning Study), in relation to the statewide Clinical System Implementation.
Following on from this Austin Health signed on to implement the Clinical System referred to as Cerner Millennium. Hence ACACI staff are focussing on implementation activities.
